Do not block the doorway with your motorcycle

The C/R didn't even notice that a motorcycle (or whatever it is) was on the platform and the owner was bringing into the car?

I recommend eye tests for that C/R.

A friend and I wanted to swim across the Hudson. we knew about the current and he had a canoe with a motor that was the support boat. He so wanted us to get blown down river by the current, so when we hit Manhattan, we would need to walk in land to 8th Ave and take the subway up to the bridge.

He wanted a pic of him with a canoe in a Subway so bad... Alas that did not work out.

I suppose the guy could have got on at the last stop when the doors were open and the car was unattended. Also how did he get through the turnstiles or gate ?

Regular bikes also have no business being on subway trains.

Regular bikes unaccompanied by a customer are hazardous. I occasionally bring my Huffy on the subway. It's allowed at all times, especially during rush hours.

Conductors are not cops.

The bike could have gotten on while the c/r was answering a question.

This article was written before that new rule.

I have not read the article due to my server taking too long to bring an article link up on screen - and most of the time, I don't have the patience to wait until it finishes loading.

I do remember reading somewhere though, that on the S-Bahn, a bunch of 20 somethings brought a couch on board the train - they were moving it from one apartment to another. They apparently just put it down in the center of the car and sat down on it, until their stop. IIRC, the other passengers in the car just shrugged and accepted it.

Yes, during the 1890s, there was a cycling "craze" and I believe that cars were designated for bicycles and their riders.

In Los Angeles, some cars have space for wheelchairs and bicycles. I would rather people ride a bike to a rail station that drive. Bikes can pose a problem during rush hours, especially if doors become blocked.

BART has allowed bikes for decades. While they insisted on a separate license, and bikes were restricted to the rear car only and outside of rush, all of that has changed as bike usage has skyrocketed.

I’v noticed over the years that a number of things that are prohibited in NY (at least on paper) seem to be allowed on other systems.

That happened on the G train a few years back, as well.

From Aug. 11, 2013.

Let's see now, I wasn't retired yet, and I was working the G.

I know it wasn't my train, because my conductor was so fast he wouldn't have let them on with that thing.
