Britian's National Rail version of the M7/M8

Posted by Dave on Fri Nov 9 16:28:53 2018

The British Rail Class 350 is a class of EMUs built by Siemens in 2004–05, 2008–09 and 2013–14. They are used in suburban service. Unlike the M7/M8, it has 24 first class seats in each four-car trainset.

Today the missus and I rode a West Midlands Class 350 trainset to Bletchly Park. Bletchly Park is the once top-secret home of the World War Two codebreakers who deciphered the German Enigma cipher. If you saw the movie "The Imitation Game" starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Alan Turing, you saw exterior scenes that were filmed at Bletchley Park.

Train arriving at Bletchley:

Class 350 #1 (1 of 1)

Short movie of a train departing Bletchley:

Class 350 leaving Bletchley (1 of 9)

Two Class 350s at London Euston station:

Class 350 #2 (1 of 1)

They tried to streamline the front, then have that gangway and diaphragm bulge out like a sore thumb.

All British trains have a real issue with huge gapping between train and platform.

The older Class 317's from the 1980's are the ones that have front ends looking like M-8's.
