The Marathon made the MTA's calendar because it's decades old. The problem is NYCT's reaction time to newer events. The Marathon disrupts surface transit to such an extent that grade separated transit (subways and el's) are the only reliable transit. There are no parade crossings along the Marathon route. |

There are no parade crossings along the Marathon route.Ah thanks, good point. I have resorted to the subway system on two occasions solely because of an effectively* uncrossable parade - once Halloween and once St. Patrick's. * It might have been crossable, but it was much quicker to use the subway system to cross it than to find out how I could do it on foot. |

Comic Con is an extremely large event over 4 days, with attendance in the 200K range. Its primary venue is the Javits Center, so for most of the history of the event at that site, the 7 train didn't go there, and people still got there in droves. This is work that really needs to get done, as the Hudson Yards builds out, it will be increasingly difficult to do shutdowns. |

Comic Con is actually a huge event drawing in the 200000 range over its 4 days, but it thrived before the 7 got to the Javits. Additional sites beyond the Javits are now engaged. |

I toured the Hudson Yards terminal shortly after it opened. Then I walked back to Penn Station and the LIRR. To this slow walker, the distance seemed easy. I fault the eastward rise on the escalators, undoing the westward extension of the #7. The escalators should bring you to the west side of 11th Avenue, not halfway back to 10th. Bad design that cannot be corrected. |

The main justification of the 7 extension was to serve the Javits Center, which has its biggest events [that attract public transit patrons] on weekends. If they need to do work on the section beyond Times Square it should be done on a weekday. |

And not only that, if you had postponed it to accommodate Comic Con, you could have had Veterans Groups demanding it be postponed an additional week so such can get to Veteran's Day events (Veteran's Day is this Sunday). |
