Yikes indeed. However train/wind knockdowns are not all that uncommon. Just thankful it wasn't a passenger train.

Stefanie Abrams of the Weather Channel was on the other side of the tracks at another part of the train.

Her backdrop was one on many cars that were completely on their sides. You saw the underbody and wheels.

Are those containers on trailer train cars or old box cars on TT cars?

There were box cars on that train too.

It looked like the flat car trains were upright on the tracks.
I appears to lion that the toppled box cars (who uses box cars anymore!) were on the next track over.

I just saw a train full of box cars in Billings, MT the other week, heading westbound. I assume they would have passed through your neck of the woods a bunch of hours earlier.

We seldom see boxcars... maybe they came up the old Quincy from Aberdeen?

I guess someone forgot to tell the RR there was a hurricane coming.

Balance a 14 foot high side of a barn on a 4 1/2 foot base and yep, a good wind knocks it over. Using the 8 foot outside track width of a truck would stabilize freight cars in anything short of a tornado.
