it was actually @ the 2/3 Hoyt st station. there was direct access to the Brooklyn bound platform from the basement level of A&S.
that entrance was closed many years ago.
The Macy's that exists there today is being rebuilt. The new store will have 4 levels and several levels above for office space.
Also the garage on Livingston Street was torn down and a new luxury condo complex is currently rising on the lot.

Closest Jack's are hundreds of miles away, but there are actually still a few Arthur Treachers Restaurants out in Suffolk. Nut there are a bunch operated through franchiser Trufoods, and many operated along side Nathan's in co branded franchise locations. I saw one Monday at a NJ Turnpike rest area (Molly Ptcher) going to Philly. We used to have lots of Roy Rogers, now rarely seen around here beyond "travel plazas", but someone bought the rights to open a few again on Long Island.

Gertz became Stern's and both A&S and Sterns were eliminated as brands when Federated, the operator of Macy's decided to reduce the number of brands under it's umbrella to Macy's and Bloomingdales. Marshall Field's in Chicago was another name they eliminated.

No, the company went into the franchising business, and has contract manufacturers supply product. There are a few "company stores" including Coney Island. You can still get the original style natural casing there, quite good. But like most similar operations, consistency across franchises is lacking, and high volume production does no favors to product quality
