Posted by Bill Newkirk on Fri Sep 28 18:59:11 2018 Let's start with the station building (All photos September 27, 2018)   And now the interior of not your usual LIRR station building    A "heritage" photo from the collection of Ron Ziel, hanging in the waiting area.  Another heritage photo, this one on the men's washroom wall ! lol  Now, some platform images.     The overpass with elevators on both ends.   The view at the far end of the overpass  What was weed and gravel lots, now transformed. Theres's a new 7-11 on the ground floor of the building to my left. looks like it's not open yet.   |

Ziel's "Victorian Stations of the Long Island Railroad" is a wonderful book, filled with period station photos like the ones placed in this station.Ziel seemed to be strictly a steam guy. He would refer to LIRR electrified branches/ electrification projects sarcastically as the Long Island subway. |
