Presumably the train and the plane have different propulsion methods (it would be pretty unpleasant to be on the platform as a train was departing, otherwise).So forgetting about everything else, there's the huge cost penalty of lifting the train's propulsion equipment up into the air. I suppose possibly someone could develop a passenger canister to gets smoothly slid from the train to the plane, so that passengers don't have to get out of their seats. But I can't imagine the train's motors getting flown. |

In the end, I don't think anyone will adopt it, because airlines want to cram as many paying people as they can into every aircraft, and that means no extra weight (like from couplers, trucks, wheels, axles, etc.). It's also easier to move people than equipment. |
