My experience traveling is that the unlimited ride tickets on the metro/bus/boat/whatever is never quite the bargain one thinks it is. As it turns out you find yourself walking most of the day and can't be bothered getting on public transport. I think this is just as true in NYC as anywhere else. The last time I had done this, in Milan, I only used the ticket once to get back to the hotel after a day of touring, and that was on the #1 tram, which is one of the lines with the Peter Witt cars, and purposely rode it as part of the tour. As a working NY'er I don't find it worthwhile to get unlimited cards anymore as they require me to use it more than twice a day/5 days a week. And since I bike to work at this time of year, it certainly isn't worth it. I just have an EasyPay card and just never give it any thought. And aren't the buses all pre-pay at the airport now? |

If they can't buy the cards at T5 (and they should first ask around at T5), the only way they could do it is to take the free airtrain to T4, buy the cards, and then take the free airtrain back to T5. |
