The former 79 Synder trolleybus route (Southern Division) will soon become a Proterra Electric Bus route.

Things are going a little slow with that conversion. Septa, IIHC, has only (2) Proterras, and no end of the line charging stations , yet. I'll try to find out a little more about that, If I can.

The Hanscom’s bakery in one of the photos brings back memories. There was one in Wash Hts years ago about a block from my church.

I loved Hanscom’s. We don’t have any near me, but Entemann’s suffices!

Very nice! Bring back memories of living off Germantown Ave near Chelten and working at Leary's in 1965.

In my flatware drawer I have a SS knife stamped Horn & Hardart Baking Co I loved their Cinnamon rolls. At the Reading Terminal H&H you could have them sliced, toasted and buttered. A fine breakfast after a ride from Wister.

In my neighborhood we also had a Cushman’s which was sort of in competition with Hanscom’s. Other than Entemann’s are either of the others still left.

True of most major US cities. Chicago, Baltimore, Philly, DC, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, LA, St Louis, Milwaukee, Twin Cities (cars sold to Newark, now in SF)...

Far easier to name the cities which kept at least a few streetcar lines.

My sources that are very knowledgeable about the system tell me, NO. The Phily streetcar system never had one.

What is noticeable in many of these pictures (mostly between 1966-'70) is how different many of the neighborhoods where these pictures were taken were at the time they were.

My guess is that very, very few may have existed, even during the height of the trolley era.
