That's what they want, they just don't want a bunch of folks with cans and bottles coming back from "revelry" openly drinking on the trains. If your "consumables" are not out in the open, no one cares.

I remember NYPS LIRR concourse in the 1980's on March 17th. It was disgusting with drunk teenagers and sticky floors all over the place.

I remember riding home on Conrail after St Patrick's Day. The train was a circus and the aisles flowed with beer, literally.

Then that should be what they say. I guess it will be more-or-less understood that that is what's meant, but it would be better to not be overbroad in the first place.

Since Saturday, problem less of.

LION remembers kids, they cut school on LI and bought a Round Trip ticket to the city, got themselves plastered, and then tried to come 'ome again.

Problem was their off-peek tickets were not good on the trains that they wanted to use. Arguments were had, and Police removed them at Jamaica.

Parents had to drive to Jamaica to recover their kids. (Ohh My)

Commuters cheered when the kids were dragged off of the train.

If you ban a specific substance rather than a broad category and you charge someone, you have to be willing to pay for the forensic tests to prove what it is. As a temporary rule this is extremely simple to post, and makes the job of enforcement much easier.

I don't mean a specific substance, I mean "in the open" vs. simply "present".

I wasn't going to mention that in difference to the younger lads.

However yellow liquid fooling down the aisle was a common occurrence on the M-1A even when it wasn't St. Patricks Day.

This is the exact opposite of what government actors should be doing. Public drinking and DUI should be legal on St Patrick's Day and New Year's Eve. Why can't the drinking public have 2 night a year to call it's own?

Because it's so inconvenient for the rest of us to clean other people's vomit off our pants.

They can get as drunk as they like. Just don't ride the same trains as the rest of us.

Gutter people should stay in the gutter.

Gutter people? Thats a little harsh. no?
There just stupid kids, going thru some form of self induced rite of passage. All of us done stupid things growing up and most live to tell about it.However, its gotten much better lately with the controls & regs. The old rule still applies, abuses by few lead to restrictions on all.

The last time I had a 6:30 AM Saturday plane out of JFK, the LIRR train leaving Penn at about 4:15 AM had more than a few passengers engaged in unacceptable behavior. I really was a bit worried about getting off the train vomit-free.

The biggest problem I've seen in my holiday train travels is some of these drunken kids get musclebound & bulletproof & pick & start fights with anybody & anyone.. As far as getting thrown up on, hasn't happened in my 26 yrs of commuting. If I see someone whos' about to engage in projectile vomiting, I keep my distance & my guard up.
