However, there is one spot that SHOULD have a timer, but dosen't. Its the Flushing bound track approaching QBP from Court Sq. You go up the hill with the "irish eyes" lookin at you as you whip into the station out of that 90 degree turn, only then you run into a timer. Point being, a T/O can go up that hill "wrapped around" without any timers in place before the curve.Only then run into timers 2 or 3 carlengths into the station. If you are standing up, sometimes you feel the centrifical force pushing you into a door or maybe leaning into some ones newspaper with the strap pushed all the way in. 50 or so feet above Queens Plaza So. |

Many locations like that one don’t have timers where needed and other locations where timers make less than no sense have them. |

Timers on an upgrade make less than no sense at all. among others that are similarly stupid are the single try on the S/B tk between Lawrence (now Metrotech) and Dekalb and N/B between Park Place and Chambers on the IRT. I seem to recall that with the new signaling on the IRT GT signals were installed on the N/B lcl tk entering Franklin Av which is also upgrade. |

How about the one at 9th St. on the nb express track along 4th Ave? Ruins a great express sprint. A train will be unwinding, screaming along, then has to slam on the brakes. Just plain stupid. |

I never had the sense the timers were meant for passenger comfort (other than to keep them alive and non-hospitalized).Anyway, I wonder if the short length of IRT cars makes the standard different with regard to need for timers. |
