More people using bike lanes have lead to increased bicycle fatalities.

City's response is to institute additional crosstown bike lanes.

This will further increase traffic congestion.

Meanwhile no improvements are being made to subways and buses to give these drivers an alternative otter than to use bikes which is not feasible for most.

The Times showed how the MTA is wasting tons of money.

The MTA is Cuomo's responsibility.

The sensible thing to do is to address the problems raised by the Times. So Cuomo continues to ignore the New York Tines investigation. Instead:

Cuomo's response: Charge drivers more to drive in Manhattan and to increase the cost to use ride sharing apps. The goal is to reduce the traffic congestion that the city is causing (Today there are fewer cars in midtown than there were a few years ago, but congestion is worse.)

He chooses to unfairly punish the victims and let subway construction costs to soar higher than they are already. So much of the new funding raised will be wasted with few improvements to be seen.

There must be no talk of any congestion pricing until subway construction costs are under control so that it is not three times as expensive to build a mile of subway here than it costs in Paris.

If this is how Cuomo "attacks" problems in NY by missing them entirely, just imagine him as President.

The City finally admitted that bike fatalities are on the rise. This is a result of measures taken that encourage bikes. So their solution is to build more crosstown bike lanes to further increase traffic congestion as well as fatalities. Cuomo's solution is to charge drivers for this congestion.

Painting Stripes on the street is easier and cheaper than fixing the subways.

ELIMINATE the cars and the Traffic Problems will go away.

Drivers should pay a $50 fee to enter the CBD unless their PRIMARY residence is there and their car has a registered off-street parking place.

Easy for you to say that being out in North Dakota.

First of all, Cuomo is not only talking about penalizing drivers, but those who use Uber as well, because any increased charges will be passed along to the consumer. Forcing Uber users into the subways will further overcrowd them and increase delays. Increasing bus service also increases traffic congestion.

Cuomo's assumption by penalizing driving assumes that the CBD is the only area plagued with traffic congestion when in reality there is more congestion outside of the CBD than within it. I once drove in to midtown at 6 PM on a weekday and experienced no traffic congestion, but got stuck for 45 minutes on a single block on Second Avenue without moving on a Saturday night at 10 PM when returning from Upstate when the FDR was delayed. Point is you can't always predict when and where traffic congestion will occur.

Cars with a registered off-street parking place still requires a parking space at the destination.

Some have little choice but to drive and the incentives to not bringing your car into the CBD are already high. The $50 fee you propose will be paid by the super rich. The others will reconsider if it is still worth it to live and work inside the city and will leave eroding the tax base.

In order to eliminate the cars, feasible alternatives need to be provided. The MTA is unwilling to increase subway and bus service. Bicycles are not feasible for most. Painting stripes is not an alternative. Amsterdam has traffic problems with bicycles.
