On Dec 30th, 1890, the Old Main Line in Brooklyn officially closed. The segment from Park & Hudson Aves to Park & Grand Aves, as well as from Park & Grand Aves to Myrtle & Grand Aves, had been out of service since Dec 9th, 1889. The remaining structure on Hudson Ave, from Myrtle Ave to Fulton Ferry, lasted as a single car steam shuttle until April 10th, 1904.

The B-15 appeared to be an on-and-off service up to its 1983 discontinuance. As I've said, it was not listed amongst the lineup of routes stationed at FI (Fifth Avenue) as of late 1967 according to a route dispatcher's map at the Transit Museum - and what was shown as heading over the Manhattan Bridge to Manhattan was B-63 instead. When was that eliminated to make way for the soon-to-be-created B-51?

The B-15 was a once-a-day morning rush hour tripper before it officially ended.

It also operated at least one PM trip because I used it one evening to get from the Chinatown area of Manhattan to a trainmaster training class at the old Howard Clothes bldg on the Bkln side of the Manny B.

As a fleet, those R-21-22s took a beating.

did you retire afterwards, or was it your last day on the payroll in that position and you moved or were promoted to another one?

Yep, but a great RFW. Nothing like riding one as the south motor back in the day (70s) on the 2 to Newlots Av on a warm summer day. The extra sounds you would hear with an open RFW enhanced the experience

My last actual day on the payroll. certain titles in my office were offered a buyout but it only applied if the individuals were retired by December 31 of 1997. That meant that their first day or retirement had to be Dec 31 so that the last day on the payroll had to be Dec 30. Although Dec 30 was my last day on the payroll, due to an excess of vacation days I had left over that I wasn’t allowed to get paid for, I had to use my last vacation days prior to actually leaving the TA so my last actual day of work was mid November.

I remember that drop sash window very well. Plus those cars could really move.

I did notice on two different bus maps, a big discrepancy as to which one went to the Manny B. The 1974 Manhattan bus map cited the B-63 whilst the 1976 edition listed the B-15. Both had B-39 over the Willy B. (The cutoff seen online on the 1974 edition viz the Willy B connection was a scanning error.)

Also, the system let trains really move back then.
