They look a lot more comfortable than a "economy" seat on an airplane, but that isn't saying much.

some pax who have ridden in them gave good marks. That said, the "Sleepy Hollow" seats common on post war lightweights still stand as an excellent(COMFORTABLE) design. But, reinventing the wheel is popular.

They started a while ago, I rode one on a NER train NYP to WAS Oct 31. Same seat frames, new cushions and covers. The new cushions make a big difference. Carpet was also done on the car I was in, wainscot and bulkheads and bathroom not yet. Pretty good amount of improvement for a relatively modest sum.

I ride #79 & #80 twice year, PHL-DNC-PHL. My next trip is June, 2018, I'll tell you my opinion at that time of the new seats. If you get a worn out, bad seat, it's like a knife in your back for 9 hours. I take frequent walks to the restroom or cafe" car, that helps my back.

By June of 2018 they should be done with the work including the B/C car curtains, bulkheads, wainscots, bathrooms, reading lights, and cafe cars. We shall see if that actually happens.

Still the same seat frames, with too-low armrests.

The shitty lumbar support and seat bottoms that encourage your ass to slide off is what I don't like about them,.

Hopefully the Superliners are also being updated. I'll be riding in a roomette at the end of February on the Texas Eagle.

Anderson said Amfleet-2 will follow.
Said nothing about Superliners, which are very threadbare and need more than just a refurbishing: rattly sleeper room doors, jammed shades, inoperative vent covers, shear curtains.

Even the SL sleepers I've been on recently where everything works still look "shopworn". The VL sleepers have been about 50/50, some look like they've been refreshed, some faded....
