Does that mean they'll be running 10 foot wide cars?

It’s been using the BMT radio frequency for years now so what difference would this make?

Operationally, the 7 train has been handled by B Division, specifically the IND. In addition, all booths on the 7 have a prefix of "N" which is used for the IND. This dates back to the days when the BMT also ran on this line. even today, Queensboro Plaza is unique in having IND and BMT trains share the same platform on each level for the only across the platform transfer between BMT and IRT.

Yup
Basically, the Flushing Line has always been a B Division line operating IRT rolling stock.
It's simpler to do this, since any changes would require a massive outlay of funds(platforms, signals, new connections or rebuilding the Steinway tunnels to handle 10ft wide rail cars).

My take on this.
Another way this could have been done, was route the 63rd St line directly to the Flushing route by way of the Sunnyside Yards, reroute Astoria service to the Steinway. A new station within the yards could facilitate both routes plus a bypass line with limited stops across Central Queens.
Yeah yeah, I know it's fantasy, but why not?

Unless they made changes recently at the RCC, when I was in the Command Center the Flushing Line was under the BMT never the IND. For a brief period, the Flushing Line supervision was also on the B Division work program. After one pick, the Yd/M’s job at Corona was changed back to the IRT supposedly because, the BMT Yd/M who had picked there allowed a 10 ft wide flatcar to go up the Flushing Line. because of the slow speed, it really didn’t cause much damage to the platform edges either going or coming back but it did have to move extremely slowly through the stations. It seems the car’s suspension system allowed it to ease past the platforms with minimal damage. Even after the line was returned to the IRT work program, the BMT trainmaster continued to administer the line and the zone trainmaster for the line also handled the Astoria Line and part of the BMT Bway Subway as well. I don’t know what will happen to the train crews and Tw/Os but back when the line first went under the BMT, there were plans to place the Tw/Os on the BMT work programs and have the train crews pick on the B Division work programs as part of Bkln South to match the RR which at the time operated to Astoria. I would imagine if the NYCT were to follow similar logic, it would have the crews pick within the South district to match the N rather than the IND Queens district.
