Posted by kp5308 on Mon Oct 16 17:45:37 2017 During July of this year Norfolk Southern released 50 ex-Southern EMD GP38-2 locomotives to Blackmon Auctions to be sold off. Reading Blue Mountain and Northern picked up 3 recently so off to Port Clinton PA I went to see if I could photograph them. As luck would have it all 3 were there so I got a visitors pass, signed the release & went about my business. Two of them were outside the shop with old & new numbering:  And the other was in the shop getting some welding done along with new numbers in the numberboards. The ex-EMD Demonstrator SW1500 #112 has been brought back from the dead line but still needs some more work before it is released for service:  The other SW1500 on the roster was also present. Note some others taking shots off in the distance:  Xcoal Energy & Resources made a deal to ship 700,000 tons of coal for energy production to Ukraine by the end of the year. Half of that tonnage will be made up of Pennsylvania anthracite shipped through Baltimore from mines served by Reading & Northern Railroad. Empties for this traffic head north:  News from the passenger side: RDC1 #9167 has been brought down from Pottsville for refurbishment over the winter:  The North Reading boarding point didn't quite make it to completion for the October first "Grand Opening". The covered stairway & stairs to the second floor of the tower are close to being fully assembled:  There is a Missabi fan in the area:
