That's not neccesarily correct.Just to dispell any possible misconceptions, I would like to note that 9306 will still be free to join its IRT SMEE bretheren as needed. There are no cars that are relegated to "permanently" stay in the museum and not be used on trips. |

As far as I know she was taken for the Bicentennial, and the Transit Museum opening in 1976. I don't know how the MTA let them steal a 12 year old car, when everything else was falling apart. I am glad they did. I am sure it took a lot of work in a time of mass scrapping. |

Yes, in addition to Flushing Line veterans when in the late 40s, they came from the ACF factory to Queens & chased the Steinways & 1939WF cars back to the mainland. When the R-15s came in 1950, that made the Flushng line the first in the city to be totally equipped with post war equiptment. |

I think 9306 was always special, somehow. It was transported on a flatbed truck during some parade in late 1963...Was there anything to make this one car the one they chose? I don't know- but I suppose that it was a single unit helped- taking it out of regular service had less of an impact. |

Most of those in work service were beat to sh** and not maintained at all.Corona used 9307-9310 as B Division transition cars with 4 trip cocks for moves to/from Main Shop transfers to/from CIYD. So these cars weren't as abused as the others as a rule. |
