Awesome video- the R10 ALIVE at the system's newest station. Wish I coulda been there!!I also have 2 observations- 1) It seems that the SAS can access the local tracks at 57/7th. I'd assumed that the late-night Qs switched tracks around 49th Street- (I believe there are 2 sets f switches there- coming out of 42nd, and skipping 49th, or between 49th and 57th, stopping at 49th- correct?)But I guess not- they must be able to switch just north of 57th 2) I realize just now that I've probably never ridden the H (N/Q)tracks Brooklyn-bound across the Manny B. I can't explain how this came to be, but I'm quite sure of it. I've ridden Manhattan bound many time. As for the A tracks, (B/D) I've travelled both directions countless times. |

After its repainting back to its original scheme in 1994, it was hoped that R-10 #3184 would be used to go on fantrips, being coupled to the other available "SMEE" museum cars on MTA NYCT property.With the exception of being displayed at the TM in 2004 and 2007, I am sure not what were the reasons (or excuses) as to what it was not functional operational for all that very long time. That probably changed when until this year in 2017, #3184 and the other stored cars outside the Museum (and for awhile in storage at Pitkin Yard) were all sent up to the 207th Street Yard and Shops to be evaluated for possible operation. You have give credit to the technicians and mechanics at 207th Street Shop for getting #3184 up and ready at last, and it was done so within two weeks. The BMT AB's and D's were serviced at 207th Shop also as well. Kudos and equal credit goes out to Bill Wall and his operating crew for making the TM "Nostalgia Special" ride a totally great memorable one at that too. -William A. Padron ["a.c.f."] |

No word on that third D-Type that I know of, which I understand is still in storage at Pitkin Yard (unless someone knows otherwise).#3189 is sitting on the track outside the inspection barn between one of the D's and the SBK Locomotive #6. The car's solid blue exterior paint scheme can be visibly seen standing from the University Heights Bridge or while passing by looking from the Major Deegan Expressway. #3189 will need lots of work, including putting back its seat frames, and supposedly still has its original WABCO A-1 3YC compressor. #3184's comes from a different SMEE model (R-16/17/21/22 type, WABCO A-2/3). -William A.
