Give me a jackhammer, and I'll get it outta there.On a related note, will the rehabbed stations all be populated by good-looking women we see in the rendering. The brunette up front looks like she'd never talk to sub chatters... Getting back on track (pun intended), some of that awful tile was left in place at City Hall (on staircases) even after the sidewalls were chipped down to the concrete and re-tiled. Hard to believe the Gov would spend all those millions of $$ to leave it there... |

It seems that anything that involved the city of NY was based on the state of the art IND style tiles of the 1930s and early 1940s. That’s why the original wall tiles at 14/8, Fulton and Broad were done that way. The LIRR Woodhaven station was also done around the same time and with city help. |

And I wish the original "IND" tilework had been preserved at those locations. True, they weren't IND stations- but it was their original look.I also wish the fully original IND look had been preserved at 34/6, 59/Columbus Circle, Roosevelt, Queens Plaza, and the IND platforms at 14/8. Yes, other than at 34/6, they did use an IND-ish style. But look what they did at Broadway/Nassau- outright renamed it, and it looks original. THAT was great. |

From what I was told, the restoration tile work at Fulton and Broad was taken from the original designs that the BRT and BMT had for those stations if they had been built according to the original time frame. 14/8 is of course a different story, since I don’t think the BRT.BRT/BMT had any original plans to go west of 6 Av. |
