MTA and Kawasaki discover "minor" defect on R-142A and R-188 conversion cars

During the final car acceptance process, they discover the defect on the side sill. The cause was from the fabrication process.

MTA says there is no impact on the structural integrity of the rail cars.

Kawasaki is working on the correction action plan to fix the defect.

Cars will be taken out of of service in a small period of time to address the defect.

Affected cars: 300 of the R188 conversion and about 125 of the R142A.

Thanks. If that's all it is, should be no big deal. I mean, it needs to be fixed- but it doesn't seem a repeat of the R46
