One day in Boston

Posted by The Silence on Fri Feb 24 02:42:25 2017

We had a rare day in my house where everyone is off from work, and we wanted to do something. so...

BOSTON! (I'd never been, but I've been playing Fallout 4 a whole lot)

we drove up and parked near South Station.

We went downstairs and got on the T.

In order:

Red line to Park Street

Green line to North Station

Orange Line to State Street

Blue line to out Orient Heights, back in to Bowdoin and then back to Government Center.

Green line to Kenmore, return to Park Street (with an interval at Bolyston to take some quick shots of the old cars stored there)

Red Line to Harvard, return to South Station, and then off to see other sights (I think I had a heart attack climbing the Bunker Hill monument. Beautiful view from the top, but the climb is awful)

We came in on I-90 so Framingham-Worcester Line shots opened the trip

I could never understand why some subway "T" trains use their sealed beam headlights and some don't.

Why the T started building high platforms in Boston I have no clue; would have been better to have brought in gallery cars as bilevels and have kept everything low. Would have forced the issue with Acela low platform access too.

+1. Acela would have been easy, just needs 2 tracks at BOS, mini-high at BBY and 128. Hard part would be PVD.

With 100% low the Downeaster could have been run with Superliners.
