Lou:Thanks for clarifying what happened. We were on the run from Queens Plaza to Second Avenue when the announcement was made. The people who go year after year, and I count myself among them, appreciate the work Bill Wall and his crew do to keep the train running. I'm glad you confirmed this was the first time a holiday train was cancelled, as I never remember any issues other than a stuck door here and there. Robert |

And it is not the first time that a museum car has had problems like this. IIRC, R-17 car #6609 was part of a consist in regular service on one of the holiday runs along the #7 some years ago, and somehow, and possibly, the brakes locked up on the car at Times Square. Getting that one out of there was no mean feat either, and #6609 has not been seen since, not even back at Court Street.-William A. Padron ["SMEE"] |

If the C/R operating position is set up with the D type on one side of the C/R and the R-9s on the other, the doors don’t have to actually MU. The door controls on the D will be fully functional as long as the door handles are unlocked and the door controls on the R-9s will also be fully functional as long as the drum switch on the R-9 is set to the “on”position and the actual M/M’s indication will pass through without any problem. |
