You could tell by the rail and platform that the southbound service had been curtailed after the NYC Putnam service ended!

The Woodlawn line also had semaphores, which were in position well into the mid-late 60's.

I wonder how long after it was abandoned. Since there are boards missing.

Also, unless I'm blind, the tracks are still there but the 3rd rail isn't. Interesting.

It had exposed el type third rail, not a covered subway type one. Was still there when this photo was taken, I believe.

re: curtailed after the NYC Putnam service ended!

I've seen the abandoned S.bound track in Arcara's videos and other photos. It would make sense that operation was limited to one track after the Putman's closure. I wasn't aware, or didn't "put two and two together" that this was the reason for it.
Thanks for this detail.

I think it's so post-abandonment that the bridge is already gone,....I don't see it.

In the 70s, and even now, a completely abandoned station, cut off from anything, would be heavily vandalized. I guess in the late 50s-early 60s, it could just rot..,

The bridge and the structure upto the station were removed in 1959. The Sedgwick Ave station to River Ave (except for what remains) were taken down in 1962. So this photo was probably taken between 1959-1962.

have you ever seen any photos of the fare control areas, and/or signage for Sedgwick or Jerome-Anderson?

if the IRT installed those blue and white porcelaine signs at both these station entrances, photos would interesting & of course historic given terminals and destinations they might have listed.

No, I have not. Perhaps somebody here has interior photos of those 2 stations. When I rode the shuttle with my father, we went from 167/River to 155/8th.

Is it me, or was that already discussed in this thread? Oh right, you don't bother to read the whole thread before replying.
