About 800 Feet of Third Rail Is Missing From R Line Tracks Between 86 & 95th St in Brooklyn |

Posted by heypaul on Mon Oct 24 07:37:31 2016 Over the weekend it was discovered that approximately 800 feet of third rail was missing on the R line in Brooklyn. What made the discovery even more amazing was that service through the area was unaffected. Police believe that this may have been an inside job. |

Actually, when T/Sq shuttle is reconfigured, it will only have 2 tracks, tks 1 and 3. Tk 4 will be eliminated entirely and the remaining shuttle trains will be in 5 car consists providing the exact same passenger capacity as the current 3 trains. Currently there aerobe X 3 car trains and 1 X 4 car train for a total of 10 cars. When Tk 4 is eliminated, there will be 2 X 5 car trains for the same total of 10 cars, the same passenger capacity. Wit 2 T/Os on each train, the frequency will be about the same as at present plus, many passengers opt not to use tk 4 anyhow since it is the fastest away from both the IRT and BMT west side lines. |

I was told that as part of this project the platforms at TS will be straightened. How will this affect the landmarked areas, including:- 1904 tiled walls on the original NB platform - 1904 platform pillers, both NB & SB platforms Will this project narrow, or eliminate entirely the wonderful view into the NB B'way-7th ave. tunnel? hope not.
