"Amongst his Stockholm images is one of Europe's most photographed stations -- Solna Centrum."Here, artists Anders Aberg and Karl-Olov Bjork painted its exposed rock an angry black and red, creating something altogether demonic." I wouldn't say "demonic." Åberg and Björk took as their theme the environmental crisis that was developing in the early 1970s. The red color (I don't believe the black is paint; I think it's the natural color of the rock) was chosen to highlight this theme. My own photos of the station, including close-ups of some of the artwork + actual humans, can be seen here. Forsyth does amazing work. I don't mean to take away from that. PS I need to update the texts on my Web site generally, and here is an example: Råsunda stadium has been demolished and replaced with Friends Arena, opened in 2014. |

I like Chambers St. - it has an unusual track & platform design, high ceilings and spaciousness. Too bad it hasn't been taken care of.- maybe run a photo from a PSC report of the station before it opened for traffic... |
