London forced to destroy millions of new maps due to small error |
|
Posted by The Silence on Thu Jun 23 14:10:18 2016 A few years ago, Transport for London took over Tramlink in southern London. this year, they finally added the system to the tube map.The tram line has it's own distinct fare zone, separate from the zones used by the Underground and the mainline trains. The Tram crosses over (but does not connect to) the Northern Line between South Wimbledon and the last stop at Morden. They mistakenly put Morden in the tram fare zone, not Zone 4, so they now have to recall all the maps they printed, destroy them, and make new ones. You can see the error here One little thing ends up wasting so much money. I guess that's what they get for insisting on using their overly complicated zone system. |

Gothamist's London affiliate has a guy name Geoff Marshel who make loads of videos for the site, lots of which are about transportation, here's three about the complexities of the fair system. Also, while on the subject, these are two playlist from their cataloging I think the rest of you would enjoy. Secrets of the Underground (...And the DLR and the overground and the trams... FYI, the last one about the cable car is an April fools joke) London's Lost Railways |
