That's a very cool app.Now if they had a street-by-street "what's beneath the roadway" (like a utility guide) we might be able to settle 76th Street once and for all. We might even find Jimmy Hoffa and Judge Crater. |

The reason Bay Pky as the almost instant response is because it is adjacent to a cemetery and with almost no residents lining in the immediate area, it is an excellent place to park for passengers driving to the subway, contingent of course on alternate side parking rules. When I lived off Bay Pky near 65 St, I would often park in the area near the Bay Pky station of the F and walk back to my apartment if I absolutely couldn’t find a parking space closer to my apartment |

It was, but if I couldn’t find a parking space closer, it was my only option. If I was lucky, a bus would be coming by in my direction and I would be able to ride it back to 65 St. |

The alt side parking was a pain in the ass on my block but I was lucky enough to rent a neighbor's garage for $50/month in the 1980s. Around 1980 the ASP was reduced to 2 days per week from 4-days per week. ASP is nothing more than a revenue scheme. |

AFAIK alternate side parking on SI only exists on a few narrow streets in New Dorp Beach to permit access for the newer wider combo garbage trucks. When did you live in West Brighton? |

The ASP in Queens seems pretty legit, only 1.5 hours once a week (for each side) and it goes into effect after people would have left for work. Now the best example of corrupt alternate side regs I can think of is where I used to live in Albany. While most areas had a once a week 12 hour window, the streets surrounding the Catholic office building (wherever the Bishop lives/works out of, forgot the name) had a twice weekly 6 hour window from 1AM-7AM. In other words, guaranteeing that people who work there could get street parking four out of five days. |
