More like Desilu not having the money - remember at this time they were also producing Star Trek. M:I and Trek were the two expensive hours on TV at the time, and Desilu was in quite perilous financial shape as it was, to point where Desilu had to sell out to Paramount, which made one of the best long term investments in Hollywood history - Lucy ended up getting $3 million in Gulf and Western stock for the whole shebang. |
