LaGuardia posed aboard 1208 when the 6th Ave. line opened. He also posed in the cab of a BMT standard at Times Square when the city took over the BMT. According to Brian Cudahy in Under the Sidewalks of Ne York, when it came time to run the first city-operated BMT train, LaGuardia deferred to a motorman. This is in stark contrast to George McClellan, who had so much fun operating the inaugural IRT train, that he didn't give up the handles until the train reached 103rd St. |

This would also be the last day for the Culver el to terminate at Park Row. At Chambers St, the BMT did not want its new Culver-Nassau service to be depleted by its nearby el terminal at Park Row. After 12 noon, that day, the Culver el terminated at Sands St, via the loop. |
