Elevators at Times Square |

Posted by Joe on Fri Nov 27 04:17:53 2015 How does a passenger get from the northbound IRT platform (1,2,3) at Times Square to the street by using elevators? I'm trying to direct someone who has difficulty with stairs, and I cannot recall where the elevators are. I presume you take an elevator from someplace on the platform to fare control, then another elevator to the street. Where does this put the rider? Is it at 41st Street or 42nd Street?Thanks. |

Once you're up a short flight to shuttle train level, there is an elevator between the 1/2/3 and the N/Q/R that gets you to the south side of 42nd street. |

Take the elevator to the "41st Street side", walk on the passageway alongside the Uptown 1/2/3 (where you will pass by the restrooms), make a right and the elevator to the SE corner of 42 and 7 (the newer glass entrance) should be there.Accessible station list |

I recall that north-south passageway under 7th Avenue from the era when a series of red bulbs and a series of green bulbs on the ceiling guided strangers to/from the Grand Central shuttle, mainly, I believe, for people moving between Penn Station and GCT. At several places, a board said, "Follow the green [or red] lights to trains to Grand Central [or Pennsylvania Station]. |
