In Part 1, I covered the actual opening of the Tilikum Crossing Bridge and the Orange Line, and the Portland Streetcar bi-directional loop routing over the bridge. Starting with Part 2, I'm going to concentrate on other aspects of the new Orange Line. First up: Action the West Bank of the Willamette. Some of the photos were taken on Opening Day, September 12; others on September 13. There's also one bonus pic.

The first outbound train was held at Lincoln/SW 3rd Avenue while the speeches were made. September 12, 2015.

Head-on shot. September 12, 2015.

Congressman Earl Blumenauer was one of the speakers. Stacy & Witbeck, the general contractor of the Orange Line project, was the host. September 12, 2015.

Afternoon photo of an inbound train led by Type 1 111. September 13. 2015.

The same train has left Lincoln and is now heading for PSU and downtown Portland, which it will traverse via 6th Avenue, but as a Yellow Line train. September 13, 2015.

This train of Type 4s has just come off the Harrison/Harbor Blvd. viaduct, crossed Naito Parkway, and is approaching Lincoln/SW 3rd Avenue. Note all the warning signs, illuminated or otherwise, at or close to the beginning of the viaduct. September 13, 2015.

Outbound train of Type 5s crossing SW Harrison Street Extension and the Portland Streetcar. September 13, 2015.

This Portland Streetcar is working the new counterclockwise loop line and will go across the new bridge. So will the bus. Lines 9-Powell and 17-Holgate have been changed over to use the new bridge. September 13, 2015.

An outbound train of Type 4s is crossing the confluence of SW Harrison and Harbor Blvd. September 13, 2015.

A South Waterfront-bound streetcar is at SW Moody/Mead as it unloads passengers going to the Bridge Opening and receives passengers bound for the housing developments along the South Waterfront Loop. In the meantime, the first outbound MAX train to use he new Tilikum Crossing Bridge is approaching. September 12, 2015.

This is what this spot looked like in 1996. This was the original northern terminal of the Willamette Shore Trolley, which operates to Lake Oswego. Here, Blackpool standard double-decker 48 loads on SW Moody under the Marquam Bridge ramps. In later years, the terminal got pushed further southward twice as the Portland Streetcar expanded its reach along the South Waterfront. The northern terminal is now as SW Bancroft Street. May 12, 1996.

A train of Type 4s leaves South Waterfront MAX station and is crossing SW Moody inbound. HDR image. The building on the left is the OHSU School Of Dentistry. September 13, 2015.

Part 3 will cover photos of the line on the East Bank of the Willamette.

I'm leaving for PDX Wednesday morning. Now I have something to do on my down time. (I rode all the MAX and streetcar lines last year. Now I can pick up new mileage.)

Not necessary. The Orange Line parallels the old SP and passes Brooklyn Yard.

I know about that, I operate on the Brooklyn sub. I was saying it he gets sick of only seeing UP and the occasional P&W train he can head to Vancouver and see all that and some BN action.
