Hey, I am still waiting for PICTURES.

No Pictures, No Snow!

We got no snow, why should you have any snow. You are not in North Dakota, you know.

Technically, it is closed. To passengers. But there were trains running - to keep the rails from rusting.

Saw a news video on CNN where a reporter went down into the 14th St station (8th Avenue one) and heard trains running down there.

The fact is they could have run the C (from 207th), E, and R (to 179th).
With Bronx or Brooklyn outside truncations, the D, F, 2, and 5.

Actually, from 207, it would be the A as far as Euclid. The E could run in its entirety as could the R (utilizing N crews since the N really could’t run properly) instead of a shuttle, D from 205 St to at least Bway/Laf (if not over the Manny B depending on its vulnerability to snow as far as Pacific St), F from 179 to Bergen St and the G between Court Sq and Bergen. The L could run between Myrtle and 14/8. The 1 could run between 96/Bway and So/Fy Probably not N/O there due to the 125 St structure and the 2 could run between 149/Gr Conc all the way to Flatbush, the 4 could run between 149 St and Utica and the 6 could run between Hunts Pt an Bkln Br. It could also be possible to run uncertain elevated sections depending on how clear the portal sections are of snow and the visibility conditions outdoors. That would leave only Dyre, Brighton, Sea Beach and the Rockaways and possibly the West End in the 38 St Cut vulnerable enough to snow accumulation to warrant complete shutdown of those lines. It could be conceivable possible to run the Flushing Line and the J and M lines although visibility issues may preclude operation over those lines so they may also have to be shut down as well.

The Queens Blv Viaduct with snow above the third rail will kill service.

Are there really problems with snow on metal elevated structures, compared to the cement viaduct on Queen Blved, and the Q/B from Ave H to Sheepshead Bay and other locations? Wouldn't most of the snow fall between the ties to the street below?

Yes, it would fall between. The problem is with the snow collecting on the platforms.

Nope. They had actual humans with shovels out there on each and every one. Too expensive for modern times.
