When I was there back in 2013, they operated two or three through trains of UTDC cars from the south end of the Blue Line to the east end of the Red Line, where the University is located. Weekday mornings, and possibly in the afternoons, too, when the University is in session. They can, however, operate them on the Blue Line to Union Station, where a connection is made with FrontRunner. They cannot, however, operate on the Green Line or the west end of the Red Line, because there are no raised platforms for wheelchair access. |

Rode them a few times when they were at VTA. Interiors were very similar to the Nippon-Sharyo LRVs on L. A.'s Metro Blue (and now) Expo Lines. I guess VTA wanted to go all low-floor, but I am not feeling the current Kinki-Sharyo cars :( (in fairness, I haven't been to the SF Bay Area since the Kinkis went into service, so I haven't seen them in person) |
