Posted by milantram on Wed Nov 26 12:38:46 2014 On November 1 and 2, 2014, the San Francisco Municipal Railway hosted its third annual Muni Heritage Weekend.This is a weekend where Muni brings out a slew of historic streetcars, cable cars, trolley coaches and motor buses that don't normally run during the year. Special services and displays are offered. The historic transit booster organization Market Street Railway was heavily involved in promoting this weekend. This year, such treasures as Muni A-Type 1, its very first streetcar from 1912, 578S, built in 1895, and its newest Blackpool "Boat" tram, car 233, were in service or on display. Among the buses and trolley coaches used were a 1950 Marmon-Herrington trolleybus, a "Baby White" from 1938, a GMC Fishbowl form 1969, and others. And an original O'Farrell, Jones & Hyde cable car operated on the California Street line. This was also the first Heritage Weekend that I was able to attend. I missed the first two years due to Superstorm Sandy in 2012 and my father's death in 2013. There are many aspects of Heritage Weekend I will cover with these pics. Some of these are routine operations. So sit back, enjoy the ride! Part 2B, Sunday, November 2, 2014--General views along the line.  It's Car 1's turn to do the loop-de-loop around the Hotel Vitale. Now it looks like the Marmon trolleybus will follow Car 1, but ti's going to turn left onto Steuart Street.  Cleveland 1075 makes the turn from Don Chee Way onto The Embarcadero. This car was not out on Saturday. In the background. 1941 St. Louis trolley coach 506, and motorized cable car 62.  Peter Witt 1895 was one of only two Milanos out this day. It was being well-documented...  Car 1 is ready to loop around with a load of passenger on board. It will follow PCC 1011 and another tram.  Meanwhile, Blackpool "Boat" 228 begins the loop around to get out of Car 1's way. PCC 1061 (Pacific Electric) will follow it onto Don Chee Way enroute to Castro.  I rode PCC 1070 (Newark) out to Greenwich, where I did my Embarcadero Line shooting this day. Pier 23 is a famous waterfront dive and jazz joint.  1074, the Toronto "Red Rocket", was another car that didn't run on Saturday. It's passing Pier 27, the newly-completed new cruise ship terminal.  That's followed by Car 1 returning from Pier 39. It has just crossed Battery/Lombard.  My primary quarry for the expedition up to Greenwich was PCC 1011 (Market Street Railway)…  …which I rode back to the Ferry Building, and got this shot of "competing" Torpedoes 1011 and 1008.  1011 by itself. The Ferry Building clock has been changed to Pacific Standard Time.  Boat 228 leaves for Pier 39 with a boatload of happy passengers. It will pass outbound 1080 (Los Angeles Transit Lines) and follow 1059 (Boston).  While Boat 228 was at the Wharf, the other Boat--Muni's newest acquisition, 233--arrived.
