Countdown cloacks on the (7) line and B-division timeframe... wait for a very long time.

(7) line "real" countdown clocks should be online between Late 2015 to end of 2017

B-division or letter lines roll out is complex...

MTA is doing two phases. Phase 1 of the roll out is funded: Summer 2017 to end of 2019. Phase 2 is part of 2015-2019 MTA Capital Program funding (if it approves), schedule plan roll out is 2020 to 2022 or beyond.

Union Square downtown N/R/Q and 23rd St downtown N/R had countdown clocks within the past year or two that identified the train (N or R) as well as the number of minutes away. Don't seem to be working now.

Perhaps something rudimentary could be set up in the meantime to say how many minutes away the next train is (without necessarily identifying which train) - for example, 36th St Bklyn southbound (next local train is xx minutes away), West 4th express track southbound (next express train is xx minutes away), etc.

14th St during the few days it actually was operating. I saw it and pulled out my iPad to take the shot. The thing is it did work, so even if it weren't going to be the final version why didn't they let it just run?

I think those next train displays were manually triggered by dispatch. They always seemed to be around a minute slower than when the train was actually to arrive, so they'd announce the train's arrival well after it left the station.

It did work occasionally. But it has trouble recognizing which train is arriving and the arrival of next train time.
