In several of those links it was suggested to visually record the activities of the TSA personnel when encountering a possible violation of constitutional rights. However, a couple of weeks ago, it was reported on this forum that an individual in Illinois who was doing both a video and audio recording of police on his grandmother's property performing an investigation was arrested and charged with a felony for violating a state law prohibiting audio recording of law enforcement officers without their consent. I haven't heard any further info about the case, but it would seem that anyone in either a public area or on private property under the control of the individual doing the recording has no expectation of privacy. Now since such recordings under the circumstances I described are protected by the US Constitution, I fail to see how such a law or the enforcement thereof can prevail. |

Sorry for the necropost, but I haven't been able to find the somewhat recent thread that I would like to post this is. There was a somewhat recent thread where I mentioned the TSA at Penn Station New York and someone (AlM?, Charles G?) said that the TSA is no longer in Penn Station New York because Amtrak kicked them out. I thought maybe I was wrong, and the next few times I observed passenger screening at the gates at NYP, it did in fact appear to be Amtrak Police employees. But today, right now, at Tracks 9/10, there IS in fact a TSA screening operation underway, as we speak. The peeps had big TSA letters on the back of their uniforms. So there. I'm not crazy. |
