These people are at no risk whatsoever.I have *NEVER* seen them clean a car. All they do is stand around the platform with a bucket of dirty water and a filthy mop to hold them up. Maybe they really do more, but I have NEVER caught them at it. ROAR |

I have seen the car cleaners sweeping a car many times both at Brighton Beach & Coney Island terminals. They also selectively mop floors in the cars. Honestly, I don't think that the customary level of cleaning is adequate to control any kind of communicable disease. |

NY1 did a feature video on the MTA's response to the first Ebola case in New York City. Cleaners will now use 10% bleach in their buckets instead of the previous homeopathic levels. Any suspected infectious bodily fluids will be carefully secured in two plain brown paper bags before being thrown into a trash can. The MTA spokesman said it is perfectly safe to hold onto a pole, but as a matter of courtesy you should ask the Pole whether he would mnd your grabbing him.Updated Car Cleaning Procedures |
