Well, if you are just thinking of the writing vs. the subject matter, then yes.

Yes, good writing, and yes this stuff does happen.

I was mugged on the Orange Line in Boston, at North Station about 1985 maybe - 5 or 6 guys walking through the tunnel from Chelsea, jumping up on the platform, acting wild, one of them challenges me, I don't say anything and take a step back, he starts hitting me... it was only punching but it was painful. It was all over in 5 minutes. The motorman & conductor on the next train that pulled in called police and an ambulence. They took me to Mass. General. I was just shaken up. I was lucky.

My wallet was taken. Got it back in the mail several days later with just about all the paper intact. Money and monthly "T Pass" gone of course.

So, stuff like that does happen. But writing like this, even though very realistic, inflames the fear factor in everybody, they probably read it, and their "bogeyman subway mugger" fear dreams are exacerbated.

And yes there are places on the transit system, where it's probably not the best idea to be alone at night. But statistically those things don't always happen. But a person can be the one in ten that is the statistic. Hopefully he or she is lucky and can walk away from it.

I was rattled and on the alert for the next year or so in Boston, when I rode the subway (The T). Much time since, I'm back home, here in NY. My old self. If there are't any unsavory looking characters around I will walk to the end of the platform if I want to check something out. My alert, can be "triggered" again, if I do see anyone who appear that he/she may be harmful.... but it's only for that moment. Then i relax again.

I can't tell anyone what to write. No one should be told what to write. There should be realistic writing like the pience in the link. It sure was.

But unfortunately because of crime, many, many people have this low level fear about the subway. And I'm repeating again, though this is realistic fiction well written, it just raises the fear level. Not a good thing.

This is just my opinion. Expressing it here, but not pushing it on anybody. If you disagree with this, that's your opinion, and it's OK.
