Last section of High Line opens Sunday 9/21 |

Aside from the previous use of the High Line, the last section from W30th St to W34th St is right by the LIRR West Side Yard.If the picture in today's AM NY print version and the one online is any indication there should be some great shots of LIRR cars to be taken from this high vantage point. http://www.amny.com/news/high-line-final-section-finished-1.9349965 The last section opens to the public Sunday 9/21. |

Should be able to get non-stop fantastic photos of the whole yard until such time as the platforms are built over both the east and west yards. The east platform may be done in a year or so but I don't think work has started yet on the west platform. So we should be good for a while. |

Yeah, that's a good point -- that shot could be anywhere that lotsa M7s congregate :)So in the interest of full disclosure, I'll say that that shot was taken from the section of the High Line that opens tomorrow. I was there on an "Open House New York" tour in 2008. It was a pretty cool tour. We entered on 34th street, walked around the loop, and exited down a scaffold at 30th. I have more pictures, but they're probably off-topic here as it's more of my attempts at being "artsy" than traditional railroad photography. Thanks for the feedback :) |
