It's interesting though - how many tunnel portals were there? I thought there was only one, further south from the station, but there's one fairly close to the passenger terminal, which I don't recall seeing when I went to Baltimore.

The portal was moved south. Before B&O gave up passenger service north of Camden Station there was a platform in the cut for passengers to access trains to/from Jersey City. And there were 2 tracks. The cut was covered over and platforms moved to shoehorn in the Lighjt Rail.

Actually the lower level passenger platforms were removed and the portal moved south to build the MD I-395 connection to MD I-95 at what is now the intersection of Howard and Conway Streets.

MD I-395 was built in the mid 1980s, the Camden Light Rail station was built in the mid 1990s.
