So, they are finally going to reveal the secret tunnel between CI and 95th St.Seriously - you'd think they would make the ability to read a subway map a pre-requisite for a job in the sign shop. |

I wonder what happened to the previous signage.Considering this project was to last for 14 months, I wonder why would the old correct signage needed to be discarded for new (wrong informative) signage to replace it? Just wondering. Mike |

For the MTA, they do seem to respond every now and then. And of course, because there are so many on the "security" side of the reality, they fear that terrorists are gonna learn how to hijack arnines by hanging out here. What I find amusing is the number of pyschologists who lurk here and giggle over what is every day activities here. Heh.I mean ... this place beats any reality show that's ever been on cable most of the time. :) |

They are humans and imperfect, just like you. You should try their job for awhile and see how you do. (For the record, I've been responsible for a city's transit signage, it is a thankless job where you hear far more things about the few signs with issues as opposed to the many more signs that have none.) |

I agree that humans are imperfect, that is why there should be at least one extra 'set of eyes" to review the copy (and sign off) before it goes into production. Those metal signs are not an inexpensive item. To have to redo them is an expense that should not have to happen. |

Trust me from experience, even if you have multiple sets of eyes mistakes still find their way through. Think about how many signs the MTA sign shop installs each year. Now think of how many, as a percentage, have errors. They do a pretty damn good job IMO. |

We all make mistakes. That's why there are station supervisors, maangers and even TSS on the RTO who may spot theses signs. It's when the wrong signs are left there for years that is the problem with NYCT. |

In my job, I often had to decide which signs needed immediate and urgent replacement and which ones would linger for longer, despite our knowing they had errors or other issues, simply because I had limited resources with which to work. I can't speak for the MTA's procedures, but sometimes it makes sense to leave those errors for longer than you might find ideal. |

I worked for a BIG banking company.1) "Were your company's activities as publicly visible as the MTA's are?" - in some parts of the business - even more so than the MTAs. 2) "And did his company operate 24/7/365? " - It was (and still is a worldwide operation) - so the answer would be yes. Any mistake made could cost millions both in profits and stock price. Were mistakes made - of course - but nothing on the constant basis of the MTA. |
