They should be fitted at all LIRR stations. I take it the eastern half of the station is now under construction.wayne |

The eastern half is under construction but they haven't demolished the platform yet but the temporary glass shelters have been taken down. |

Excellent photos! My girlfriend's best friend lives near the station. Can't wait to see this job myself soon. Just a question: In the 8th picture there's a depiction of tracks (above the ventilation grate, above the waiting room door). Is this a real-time camera view to allow passengers to see that a train is approaching? |

Back when the Massapequa Park station was elevated and the east end of the Massapequa platform was extended, the west end platform that was exposed had an extended canopy. Now with the the new rehab, the west end is now exposed with no extended canopy to the stairs. It's like the rehab mirrors the original 1953 construction with an open area of the west end platform. No full canopy means more snow and ice to clear from the new platform. Progress ? Bill Newkirk |

Unfortunately in this case saving on capital money causes more operational funds required. More snow on the platform = more labor to clean it, more salt, and shorter life span for the concrete. |
