From last Tuesday's trip. Gotta say VIA Rail burns the wheels off those trains. Terrific high speed run; I must do that again.
Interesting how two trains are run as one. Train 60 runs with two cars, then train 50 with its own locomotive coupled behind. Train 60 splits up the line, around Brockville, I believe, and heads to Montreal. Train 50 follows after making more stop.
O-train is a neat little diesel operation, five stops long with one passing siding. Currently being upgraded to two track operation.

Really? Yeah, it's a long stretch between the stations, but it's basically 100 mph operation which isn't fast than the 125mph that you'll do on Regional. I mean, VIA is somewhat better than nothing, but the Corridor is a bit of a let down compared to Regional.

O-train is a neat little diesel operation, five stops long with one passing siding. Currently being upgraded to two track operation.

So the Coradia LINT units aren't in operation yet? I guess I saved money by not going to Ottawa this year. :-P

I hear what U'r saying, but what gives VIA the edge in that corridor is the illusion of greater speed. The NECorridor/ Regional is 4 track, welded rail. On the VIA run to Ottawa, it is mostly 2 track, (maybe even single track in spots; not sure of that), giving a more enclosed feeling at times. Wheels clickety-clacking, lots & lots of grade crossing making for a very "horny" ride, and the tilting of the LRC's all add up to a super trip. And the beverage carts! Like days of old railroading. Worth the trip.
Construction was evident on the O train, but the new O trains were nowhere to be found.
