In weather reports we have wind chill and heat indices to tell us how it feels outside. Not to be outdone, the MTA now offers a Wait Time Index to tell you how long the wait for the train will feel. Yes, the next train is only 7 minutes away, but it'll feel like a 286 minute wait on the hot and overcrowded platform. ;o)

Can't be. The wait time index at South Ferry is wayyy too conservative :)

Maybe it's just that the person who took these screenshots scrolled all the way down to the bottom of the list. Who would wait close to 300 minutes (five hours) for a train when scheduled intervals are between 7 and 8 minutes?
