Was that train more powerful than a locomotive? Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound? Was it up in the sky? Was it a bird? Was it a plane? :)

Interesting. Does this mean it skips Junction Blvd and 61 Street?

No. I picked this up at 61st. It does skip Vernon-Jackson and Hunters Point though.

And here I thought that they're prepping the train for another World's Fair at Flushing Meadow Park. Seems like shades of the R33 WF and R36 WF cars. Nice to morph back to 1964.

Many years ago, they tried to make 61st a local only stop. The local outcry was so loud, led by a local politico, the late Ed Fowley, that the MTA changed its mind & resumed 61st as an express stop.

I doubt very much that they'd try it again.

Especially since 61st Street is the ONLY stop with a connection to the LIRR main line, as well as the FIRST express stop with a bus to LaGuardia airport.

Of the three express stops between Queensboro and Main, the Q70 is the best option for going to the airport from the 7.

I would have when I caught a train on Tuesday, but its system was TERRIBLY out of sync. I boarded it at 61st Street. No announcement. By the time the 11th car of the train reached the platform at Queensboro Plaza, the station announcement had not yet played!

Not only that, the train was a conversion set, and the 11th car (7250) had an EXTREMELY messed up side sign on the train's right side. I had to move over to car 7902 to snap the pic at the start of this thread.

Sadly, it appears that it's the same as the Manhattan-bound 7 express set, with Hunters Point and Vernon-Jackson omitted.

For the record, I'm on one now.
