Sheepsheadbites Blog.

Part 1 is mostly about trains and streetcars in Toronto and

Part 2 is mainly about buses in Niagara Falls.

LOL! You support having passholders bypass the fare reader and thus not be counted for ridership and revenue counting purposes?!?!!? That's insane. And you claim to have been an excellent director of bus planning who was unfairly and untimely fired??? You don't have a clue!

And BTW, that's where I stopped reading. There comes a point when something is so stupid that you can't keep reading.

No it isn't. I'd rather have faster boarding than good data, and I actually use the data!

No, it's because I understand the value and important of the data to providing efficient service. However, I wholeheartedly support initiatives that will decrease boarding time while still collecting all the data.

Then implement passive counting devices instead of making everyone swipe a card. RFID is the only way I can see such a thing working reliably.

I agree with you. (I wouldn't even address Terrapin.)

How much of the data the MTA collects do you think they actually use? What is the excuse for rush hour conditions near Times Square when it is close to midnight during the week? They are counting everyone and still don't provide enough service. At 11 PM on the Q it is standing room until Church Avenue.

They claim they want people to use the system but don't make it comfortable for you. Why do they start removing B trains from service at Brighton Beach at 5 PM?

As far as Toronto, no data is lost because passes are just shown to the operators, not swiped.

That's right. You won't address me because you know I'm right and you're wrong.

Besides, if you don't swipe passes in Toronto, then there's no comparison to NYC. You tried to make one and you were completely wrong for doing so.
