Anything for Greenport?? It would be a mistake to ignore the Greenport branch demand potential that will happen soon. Suburban sprawl & seasonal demand of vacationers who are outpriced by south fork east end greed retreats might have less of a challenge to find $$$ in their budget to enjoy the East End by the Sound.
Suv's & mini vans are the norm in the parking lots of the North Fork establishments that cater to working class plain folk. The Beamers, Audi's & Bentlys are rarely found there. This alone could justify an upgrade to the track(s) & service to the north fork.
Reliable trains would come in handy when your Subaru Forrester with 100k miles on it shits out!!

Didn't LIRR increase the service last year?

That I don't know. All I've been hearing lately about Greenport Service is reductions. Reduction of a service thsts barely there to begin with.
If the LIRR could get away with abandomment east of Riverhead, they'd do it in a heartbeat, IMO of course

They lengthened the Greenport weekend operating season by about 10 or 12 weeks.

Notice the Friday Scoot extension beyond Yaphank still ends as normal after Labor Day.

With regards to the North Fork, LIRR lives in the 1970's

I remember back in the '60's, their Easter Sunday Dinner tour would fill 3 coaches and 8 school buses. Now they don't even run at that time.

The West Hempstead shuttle could run every 90 minutes at no added cost.
