It still is in Design Phase. It may or may not revealed on Monday's board meeting 60 vs 75 ft issue. Recent RFP suggest: 752 car replacement = 752 new cars. I don't know why they don't go for 67 foot cars (length of the old BMT Standards). Then you could have longer cars in the Eastern Division and work to make all stations 670 feet to fit 10 67' cars (or nine 75' cars or 11 60' cars). |

If 67 foot long cars are built, then they can put a color wrap on them to make them look proper. Respect the heritage!!! lol |

MTA predicts it will be awarded in 2016.They did not talk about the length of the car. They pretty much say its a R-46 fleet replacement equal number of cars. 752 cars. (75 foot order, this time). They mention a few items on the R-211 order: 1. Enhanced customer experience. 2. Improve communication on the train. 3. Using green technology. 4. Standardized parts (R-143/160/179) There WILL BE a presentation on the R-211 car order on a later date (probably next year). |

Its going to be 75 foot order.752 cars to replace = 752 new cars 11% additional cars = 84 cars. (Look at previous R211 post) Then there's Staten Island Railway 64 cars that needs to replace. It's a potential 900 car replacement. MTA is leaning towards 75 foot cars just to save money then buying a shorter 60 foot fleet. |
