Branching Out (Part 2) |
|
Posted by Bill D on Sun Jul 20 20:06:20 2014 After completing the run to Danbury, I had plenty of time before the next train to Waterbury. I had some lunch, then took a short ride up to New Canaan and back (1718/1755).At New Canaan station (should have brought along clippers to trim the tree branch) New Canaan - end of track Returning to Stamford, I had time to spend getting some shots from the platform. Plenty of midday action! Acela train 2159 arriving at Stamford One M-8 set heading into Stamford Station on track 1, the other switching into the yard from track 4 after completing a local out of Grand Central. Amtrak Regional train 172 arriving late at Stamford. My Waterbury train (1924) was delayed getting clearance out of the yard, and was sent over to track 3 due to the late Amtrak arrival. We pass a work train pulled by 106 (looking like a steam locomotive), which followed us up to Fairfield from Stamford. Also passed this P&W freight sitting under I-95 near Fairfield Avenue in Bridgeport. Finally, back at Waterbury. 127 hustles train 1971 out of Waterbury, 20 minutes late due to our delays at Stamford. A great day of railroading! And thanks to the fantastic crew members for their cooperation. A complete set of photos can be found here: Metro North 7/18/14 |

Great shots, Bill!!! :-)The Providence & Worcester freight you caught there was an usually early, RARE daylight appearance of FPCH, Fresh Pond Junction, Glendale, Queens NY to Cedar Hill Yard, New Haven, CT. That train is mainly empty ballast, stone and aggregate cars. The westbound counterpart, CHFP, runs well after dark. |

No problem. I mean as long as one isn't a Darius-type kook, and not messing with anything one shouldn't, plus the door was open, I don't see any issues, neither would they. You're harmless......Mr. Muni-Pete, I dunno!!! Lmao :-D |

Note, found out that the PW freight you caught was actually CT-2 from off the Danbury Branch. I spotted CT-2s power laid up today next to MNR's Danbury Yard, right in good photo position next to the DRM building (original Danbury Station building and platform). Of course, I forgot my cell when I strolled over to the Danbury register room to pick up a set of M Forms for the stop and warns.Next time......next time!! |
