Subwayman and I will be at Cortlandt Street tomorrow evening.

If enough people can come, we can make a short railfan trip someplace for evening sunset photos.

You can meet us at the Downtown R/W side, inside the WTC passageway. We will be on the first level of PATH WTC (when you walk from the R subway station, make a right as soon as you enter the PATH area, but we will not be standing on the ramps itself.)

Time 6 PM tomorrow. We will decide as a group what location we can hit for photos, then go home..

Cortlandt St station will be closed until February, 2006. The platforms will be widened and the new Dey Street passageway from the BMT station to the planned Fulton Transit Center and the rest of the Fulton-B'way Nassau complex, will be constructed at that point (the passageway will take all of 2006 and part of 2007 to be built.)

It appears that the old Cortlandt St station will have a significant makeover.

And look at how many times that 110th St/Lexington Ave IRT got a renovation. Remember at one time, you had to gived your token to the station agent and she would buzz you in through a special High-Entry turnstile?

At last count, 110th st was renovated twice and the area by fare control, a 3rd time in between the two renovations.

Ah, those photos are just "Home Sweet Home" to me, and yes and including and especially on those Washington Heights stations too. Particularly and most notably the images at 190th Street (IND "A" line, of course), with the Bennett Avenue passageway, since that was my home station for the real longest time until I moved out of their neighborhood in June 1998.

Those are really great photos. I used to ride the A line a lot, because once you got to 207th Street, it was just a short bus ride across the University Heights bridge to Jimmy's Bronx Cafe. Of course, one wonders how I got home some nights at 4 a.m., but that's another story....
